Teenage years come with a new set of unique challenges. Not only are there dramatic hormonal shifts, it is a time where individual identities are formed. This can translate to a lot of boundary pushing behavior, experimentation, acute anxiety, attention issues, withdrawal, and other behavioral changes.
I help teenagers move toward individual discovery and identity by confronting challenging behavior and addressing the acute stressors they face. I also focus on interpersonal dynamics to help teenagers feel more in control and purposeful as they navigate new relationships and the changing world around them. It is particularly important for teenagers to have a sense of autonomy and choice when finding their therapist, so I strongly encourage parents to involve them in the process.
